Grandparents' Day

Each spring, Arkansas Baptist School System celebrates Grandparents with the annual Grandparents and Special Friends Day. This year, this special day was held on April 8th. The program this year honored those who have gone before us to create the nation we know today. Mollie's group had the opportunity to dress as "what they wanted to be when they grow up," and Ellie's group dressed as one of the founding fathers or as someone who was a part of American history.

Ellie and Mollie before the program.

It took a little while for Mollie to really get into the program; but when she did, she was in heaven. Her group was made up of the K3, K4 and K5 students. They only sang 3 songs, but they did an incredible job. We all laughed because one of the main songs that Mollie's group sang was "I am a Promise." This song was one that we sang with my parents when we were little. My mom (grandma) did a beautiful calligraphy print of this song for our family when I was little. Mollie sang this song to the fullest. It was perfect!!

Haven, Noelle and Mollie

Mollie was a little reserved at first, but....

it didn't take long for her to get into the music.

I love the look on Mollie's friend Haven's face as she watches Mollie for the hand motions.

Ellie chose to wear camouflage for her performance. The camo we chose wasn't exactly perfect for the time period she was supposed to model. However, it was so cute on her. We had her name put on her shirt. She was so proud. Now, Ellie does not like huge performances or to be the center of attention. However, she did an amazing job. She sang and she smiled. There was no doubt in our hearts and minds that she was having a great time.

After the performances were completed, the girls had the opportunity to show their classrooms and hard work to their grandparents. They were both thrilled to have Mimi, Papa Jim, PawPaw and Nannie come to school just for them.

I love these little Mollie hands.

After the sight seeing was complete, the girls went to Chick-Fil-A with Mimi and Papa Jim to play and to enjoy some breakfast. They loved their special date. So fun to get that one-on-one time. That afternoon, the girls enjoyed going to a movie with Nannie and PawPaw. They loved getting picked up to go spend the afternoon together. So fun!

We are so blessed that the girls have both sets of grandparents in the same city and that they are able and willing to be a part of their lives.

Thanks for a great day!
