Happy Birthday Brian

Happy Birthday Brian!!

We love you so much! Thank you for being such a wonderful dad, husband and best friend!

Love your girls,

Rach, Ellie, Mollie & Annie

Praying for & with my friend

This morning, I sat in my office crying with my sweet friend Lesa as discussed the coming week. What brought her to this point: Memorial Day weekend 2008, she was asked by a girl that she didn't know if she would watch her infant son. I can remember talking about it with her. She went and got the baby. He was ashen, unresponsive and had a far away look in his eyes. She had no idea what this sweet 4 month old baby had been through. His biological mom never came to pick him up. She wanted Lesa to take care of him. A few weeks later, Lesa and her husband Ray went to court to obtain guardianship of Mak. Since then, they have been raising this precious boy. Mak turned 1 in January. He is such a sweet little boy and reminds me of Lesa's 3 older boys. Isn't it funny how God does that!?! Monday at 1:00 pm Lesa and Ray will go to court for the termination of Mak's biological mother's parental rights. Our prayer is that God will miraculously intervene and the judge will grant not only the termination but Lesa and Ray's request for adoption. Ever since Lesa and Ray got Mak, I have completely believed that God gave Mak to this family. There is a reason and a purpose for all of this. Please pray with me that Mak will officially become a Baxter on Monday.

Kindergarten School Days

One of my jobs (in case you haven't heard, I have a few) is to maintain the ABSS web site. I love being able to be involved with Arkansas Baptist. It's where I grew up, from where I graduated and now where Ellie goes to school. It's special that she is walking the same halls that I did. Plus, she loves school! I am in the process of putting together a photo gallery for the elementary. Tonight, I finally took some time to checkout a CD from the first day of school for the K3-K5. Here's what I found, and yes, I cried.

A little pep talk before school. I think if I remember correctly, there was a little discussion about a Barbie doll.

One last hug.

I'm certain there was quite a story being told.

Brian and I walking Ellie to her classroom. I really wanted a picture of her walking down the hall. This is perfect! Her friend Tripp is behind her. She's been cheering him on. It's his first time in school - such a sweet family.

Karen Thompson, ABES's computer teacher, takes a lot of pictures for the school. She was able to take this one of E without her knowing. I just love it!

Guess who's 4 months old???

Yesterday marked Annie's 4 month birthday. It is hard to believe that she has been with us for that long. On the other hand, it's amazing to think that it has only been 4 months. Annie continues to amaze us. She is honestly one of the happiest and smiliest babies I have ever seen. She has a smile for everyone and is desperately trying to say hi. It is so sweet to watch her interact with Ellie and Mollie. She knows when they are in the room before they say a word or make their presence known. It is so sweet!! She is such a trooper. I prayed that she would fall into our routine and be a "go with the flow" kinda kid. She is just that! Thank you GOD!!

Annie basically sleeps 12 to 13 hours a night. She generally wakes up talking and with a smile. She is such a sweetie! Mollie can't wait to see her in the morning and runs and climbs up the side of her crib to get a peek at Annie. Ellie is a huge help. They both adore her!! What a blessing!!

Annie is desperately trying to turn over. She is holding her head up on her own when you carry her and when she lays on her tummy. She is grabbing things and putting (or trying to put) them in her mouth. She is drooling like crazy!! She's wearing 3-6 month clothes.

We had her 4 month check up on Tuesday. Dr. Feelbetter says that she is perfect and will be chasing her sisters in no time. She weighs 13 lbs. 9 oz. (52nd percentile) and is 25 3/4 inches long (94th percentile!). I can't remember the stats on her precious head, but the measurement was in the 64th percentile. We are supposed to be starting her on cereal. However, we all know that I am so bad about that. I'm sure it will end up in her bottle at least for a while. We are still trying to get us into a really good routine now that we have 3 kids who all need to be fed at the exact same time and who all need seconds on said food before I can sit down to eat. ha! She is spitting up some. Dr. Feelbetter suggested we switch her to soy formula. That didn't go so well, and we were back on lactose free in 24 hours. It was worth a shot. Guess we'll have to come up with something else.

Annie was chillin' while we waited for Dr. Feelbetter. I think she sensed that something was up.

Annie just before the nurses came in to give Annie her shots. She got the rotovirus vac by mouth and 3 shots. Ugh!

Before we went to pick up Ellie from school, I thought we would have our 4 month photo shoot. Mollie wanted in on the action.

Look how long she is!

Smiley!

Star of the Week - Ellie or is it Eloise?

Last week (OK so I'm a little behind), Ellie was Star of the Week at school. She was super excited!! As part of the special things that she got to do, Ellie was the line leader (apparently this is a BIG deal), got to bring show & tell twice and got to take a special snack to school.

She took show & tell on Tuesday and Friday. She wanted to take it on Thursday, but due to a very unfortunate decision on her part, I made her wait an extra day. This unfortunate decision also led to her losing the privilege of getting to go out of dress code - a prize she won through our school's magazine sales. Anyway, for the special snack, Ellie requested my chocolate chip cookies. I also took juice boxes for a special treat. Ellie had a blast. Who doesn't love being a star?!!

A few little fun facts about Ellie.

Ellie also got to display pics of herself, her family, etc. You'll notice we even took a picture of Noah.
So, after I originally posted this, it was brought to my attention that I totally forgot to explain the Ellie or Eloise thing. From time to time, Ellie will make an announcement that she will go by her given name, Mary Eloise. However, this last time she has chosen to go by just Eloise. Brian and I think it's because we have been reading the Eloise books and watching the movie. I forgot to warn her teacher about this little "habit" of hers. Well, last week Ellie started putting Eloise on all her papers. Thankfully, my friend Julie is the aid in the K5. She was able to explain to Mrs. Bricker that Ellie's full name is Mary Eloise. It's been kind of funny to watch as papers come home with Eloise written on them. She is doing a really good job of writing it. Last night, she told me she wants to be Eloise for Trunk-or-Treat. I love it! Mandy and my mom are helping with the costume. (online the costume sells for $85...I don't think so.) So, tonight I tucked Ellie into bed, but tomorrow it may be Eloise who awakens. It's a good thing life never gets dull around here.
